David,
Great list, all good things to keep in mind as we plan the DC startup weekend. I am so pumped for this, I can hardly wait. I applaud you all for paving the way, so here is to keeping the spirit going!

This is Kurt from StartupHouston.com and I can't wait for Startup Weekend - Houston on Sept. 28th. Here is an open invitation to anyone who wants to experience the great talent and sites that Houston has to offer to come on down.

David. I love the list. It's so true. So so true. I mean look, I came from Rhode Island to be apart of this thing and enjoy a nice few days out in Boulder. I walked away from (SW) with a ton of friends and new contacts. (SW) pretty was the concrete reason I needed to make up my mind to move out to Boulder no matter how the me.dium interview went. I can't wait to see how the rest of the weekends go and I can't wait to be one of those hungry spectators.

Great post David--I concur. In that whirlwind of a weekend, I met some extraordinary people and was able to have another startup "experience", but without all the downside (e.g., risk, opportunity cost, etc.).

Good list, David. I agree on all fronts. The intense knowledge sharing was really striking in my brief visit to the Boulder weekend. It was no time for fluff -- all real-time, practical, hands-on type work that really showed how people get things done. Anyone thinking about doing a startup would be crazy not to participate. It's such a great way to quickly learn from the other folks in the community and experience (not just hear about) best practices and real execution.

Looking forward to the DC weekend ...
